The Power of Fantasy in Grooming
Victims of sex trafficking are most often lured, groomed and controlled by pimps and predators. Pimping is not about sex. It is all about creating a facade. A dream. A Fantasy. Stimulating the want in the mind of a vulnerable person for something they don’t currently have. We sometimes call that grooming.
Sometimes the smartest people are lured in. Sex and fantasy can be amazing or it can be a prison. How do you break the fantasy of a 15-year-old girl being groomed by a predator? She wants to believe with all her heart it is real, but you see the warning signs.
This week we are going to talk about the role of grooming and psychology in sex trafficking, sextortion, adult and child pornography.
Fantasy relationships – mood altering, adrenaline addiction, the personal obsession you create, the impact of a teen becoming obsessed with a predator. We will examine how a parent should intervene if they see their child being groomed.
Fantasy relationships and the psychological damage to teens who have been groomed and virtually exploited even though they may not have been physically violated.

- The Psychology a pimp uses to put the victim in a shame-based box
- The psychological impact on victims of sextortion that teens experience through chat rooms
- The “you deserve better” psychology is often used by foreign recruiters that lure victims into both sex and labor trafficking in the U.S.
